FY18 Final Budget Analysis

Governor Charlie Baker signed a $39.4 billion Fiscal Year 2018 budget on July 17, 2017 that vetoes some items and slices $320 million from the compromise budget reached by a House and Senate Conference Committee.

Senate FY 2018 Budget

The Senate passed a budget totaling $40.8 billion for Fiscal Year 2018 on Thursday, May 25.

The House and Senate are appointing members to a conference committee led by the House and Senate Ways and Means chairs to hash out differences between the two chambers’ versions of the budget. The final product then moves to the governor’s desk before the start of the new fiscal year on July 1.

The Massachusetts House passed its Fiscal Year 2018 budget on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, by a vote of 159 to 1. Representative James Lyons (R-Andover) cast the only vote against the spending plan.

House Ways and Means FY 2018 Budget

The House Ways and Means Committee released its Fiscal Year 2018 budget on Monday, April 10. The bill proposes $40.328 billion in spending, an increase of $1.472 billion, or 3.8 percent, over the current fiscal year.

Governor Baker's FY 2018 (House 1) Budget

Governor Charlie Baker released his annual budget recommendation, known as House 1, on Jan. 25, 2017. His plan, if enacted, would include $40.508 billion in spending for fiscal year 2018, which begins July 1. This represents a 4.3 percent increase in total spending over the current fiscal year.
